OUR PROJECTS
At 'It Starts With Doremi,' our music reflects the richness of global cultures, designed to foster inclusivity and understanding. We carefully curate a diverse range of pieces that span genres, regions, and time periods, blending classical compositions with traditional folk melodies from around the world. From the intricate harmonies of Western classical music to the rhythmic patterns Asian folk tunes, we aim to create a space where every participant feels represented.
We are dedicated to uniting communities and creating meaningful change through music and service. Our projects span a variety of areas, all with the goal of bringing people together and fostering empathy. We work alongside local organizations on community rebuilding efforts, using music to inspire unity and resilience in areas that need revitalization.
Concerts for connection are another cornerstone of our mission; we organize mini-concerts at nursing homes and community centers, performing cherished songs that resonate deeply with residents and foster a sense of belonging. Our team also provides music classes and tutoring for children and families from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that music education is accessible to all and offering a space for participants to build friendships and confidence through instrument lessons and group activities.
In addition, our members volunteer regularly at animal shelters and nursing homes, sharing their time, compassion, and love for music by playing with shelter animals, assisting seniors, and lifting spirits with familiar tunes. Each of these projects reflects our commitment to creating a more connected, empathetic world where everyone’s voice is heard and celebrated.

AS ONE (한마음) Concert
The AS ONE concert brought together multicultural families for a vibrant celebration of unity, harmony, and the universal language of music. This special event showcased a diverse array of performances that highlighted the rich cultural heritage of our community. Families enjoyed an engaging program featuring traditional songs, modern melodies, and interactive performances that encouraged audience participation.

DOGS 'R' US (ANIMAL SHELTER)
It Starts With Doremi recently came together for a rewarding day of volunteer work at a local dog shelter. With compassion and enthusiasm, our team spent the day helping to care for the shelter's furry residents. From walking and playing with the dogs to helping with feeding and cleaning, our volunteers worked to make a positive impact on these animals' lives. This experience not only gave us a chance to give back to the community but also reinforced our group's core values of empathy, connection, and teamwork.
CONCERT OF GIVING
We recently held a special mini-concert designed to bring joy, nostalgia, and connection to the wonderful residents of the nursing home. This intimate performance featured a variety of classic tunes and cherished melodies that warmed hearts and sparked beautiful memories. Our talented musicians performed familiar favorites, sing-alongs, and gentle instrumentals, creating an uplifting atmosphere where everyone could relax, reminisce, and enjoy the power of music together. It was a celebration of the joy of music and the bonds it creates across generations!
Peace for Ukraine
A special exhibition and mini concert dedicated to raising funds and awareness for peace in Ukraine. The event featured inspiring artwork from local and international artists, highlighting themes of unity, resilience, and hope. Attendees enjoyed moving musical performances that resonated with the spirit of peace and solidarity. All donations went directly toward supporting relief efforts in Ukraine.
Tunes for Tomorrow
At It Starts With Doremi, we proudly offered free musical lessons to children and families from diverse backgrounds. These lessons provided an inclusive space for participants to explore their musical interests, learn to play various instruments, and develop their skills in a supportive environment. Our dedicated instructors tailored classes to meet individual needs, fostering creativity and confidence in every student.
Project Pheap Sokhdom
Aimed at fostering community unity and emotional well-being through the power of music. By offering workshops and performances that blend traditional Cambodian music with Classicals, the project provides participants, including children and underserved families, with a platform to develop musical skills, build confidence, and explore cultural diversity.
Winter Warmth
We came together to spread warmth and joy at the nursing home. We shared homecooked meals, delightful conversations, and a touch of music to brighten their spirits. It was a heartwarming experience, reminding us all of the power of community and kindness. Together, we created moments that brought smiles and comfort to those who needed it most.
